And so it came to pass....
[UPDATE, 19 Sept 2020: Never mind.] Welcome to the third iteration of Rockin' Roy's Rage 'n' Romance! which began life as a print zine in February 1988. My sporadically published first child enjoyed a nine year run until July 1997, just in time for the then-emergent World Wide Web to render the amateur press association format obsolete.
In March 2011 I started a page by the same name on Google Blogger, which ran until the very end of July 2020. With the exception of my first "hit" short story, "Night of the Mutants" (originally published in March 1988) the first two iterations shared no content in common. They were entirely reflections of their times.
So I intend it to be with this one. As I noted in my last post on Blogger, I'll be slowly dismantling my old site until I delete it. I'm copying everything to Word files with notes on where I got the photos for each post, so bringing back old posts (however reformatted for this platform) by popular demand is not out of the question. It won't be common, though. Out of 670 published posts I'll be impressed to find 10 worth semi-immortalizing here. There are a few evergreen posts I made in regards to the art of writing fiction that might be worth a re-tweak. We'll see.
We're going into a new decade and (what we're told is) a "new normal." A.D. 2020 has been a year of jarringly final, albeit necessary personal transitions for me, and being forced out of an increasingly buggy platform to here is just one big psychic kaboom among many.
This much will stay the same, though. What were my "labels" on Blogger will be "categories" here on Wix, and as I hope to never stop taking photos of cats and writing mordant poetry, etc., in between the Writerly Stuff, etc., they'll be here, too. With the possible exception of the Writerly Stuff, it will be mostly new content, though.
Cheers to all of you who have followed me here. With luck, this new platform will prove easier to work with and composing posts will be fun enough for me to do more than once or twice a month. If I'm having fun, someone is guaranteed to be entertained. I've seen it happen too many times. Here's to new things and the road forever unspooling before us. Of course, nothing lasts forever, as this year is forever reminding us. I'm just saying.
