...of the Psalms of L. Roy. I thought it would be as fun as it is edifying to try composing my own. I would encourage all believers to take their shot at singing to the Most High.
Of what shall I sing today?
It is an embarrassment of blessings
Even my sorrows
transfigure in Your light
so much so I pray
You forbear drying my tears
just yet
so that I may fully remember
those things
from which you delivered me
and love You
even more.
I am so grateful for the heart
You gave me to have broken
throughout these years
and for the beautiful creatures
and the good times past
of which it is my honor
to mourn.
To see so much appear and vanish
as if they never were
To be given all these seasons to drink
slowly and savored
until the bottom of each glass
is achieved soon enough.
I beg my Father to rebuild my heart
into what best pleases Him
because it has been incomplete
all these years
more sentimental
than truly loving
Father, I thank You for blessing me
for these days and nights
spread across the stations of the sun
you have given me entire years
with nothing to do but heal
and marvel at the precision
this damp speck of dust
can rock back and forth just so
to make these seasons
amid this vast universe
and marvel that the Divine Intelligence
Who created all this and more unseen
deigns to show His favor
even mercy to a vulgar misfit like me
somewhere on a speck of dust
amid this vast universe
It was You all along, Lord
Always has been
Always will be.
